CEIE 499/649 Air Pollution Formation and Control instructs students in analysis of air pollutants through the study of radical combustion processes, chemical reaction pathways, and removal of particles and gaseous pollutants from exhaust gas streams.

Course objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Describe air pollution and why it is regulated
  • Describe the physical and chemical processes that lead to air pollution emissions and methods for controlling these emissions
  • Perform quantitative chemical and mathematical calculations related to air pollution formation and control
